Female Archer Ent

Description

My latest Female Ent creation!

This was an order for an anniversary gift, so I decided to make it a little extra special and add a fancy base, instead of the standard flat disc.

I debated for a bit, what kind of pose I wanted... did I want her kneeling, with the bow raised and drawn? Did I want her standing, bow drawn? Did I want her standing casually, bow resting at her side? And of course... where would I put the quiver? Where would it look best?

I ended up going with the middle ground... I wanted the piece to have a sense of motion, so I had her walking, head tilted slightly to the side. Bow and arrow are drawn, but not yet knocked, as if waiting for a target to appear.

The quiver, with its tooled, rippled shoulder strap, is set on the ground near her. There wasn't really anywhere on her body I could've put it where it wouldn't be in the way, or completely hidden from sight on her back, and I wanted people to see it. And, having looked over the construction of the body, I realized this arrangement would function best, if this creature actually did exist. With those long, trailing branches on the head, and the frilled bark of her arms, there was no way she could've easily drawn arrows from either her back or her hip. But, she could certainly carry a quiver while traveling, then set it down when she planned to shoot.

I am exceedingly pleased with how this turned out. Everything just fit together very well.

----------

Roughly 15-16in tall (Ent is about 14in)
Base is a slab of rough-cut wood, bark still in-tact, and lightly buffed with sandpaper to smooth hard edges and remove splinters.
Ent is lightly painted with green metallic spray paint, yellow on the bow, then sealed with a clear top coat. The body metal is left its natural coloration (as is the quiver)

Love the base, bow, and arrows. As for the hair, ever think about going for a more hanging moss look? In Peter Jackson's LOTR trilogy several of the Ents had moss for hair/beards. Though that might be a bit hard to do with metal I guess. :(
